Pre-Radiology Technology
If you are looking for a career in the medical field that combines technology and interpersonal skills, you may want to consider Radiology Technology training. Radiology Technologists are important members of a health care team trained to produce high-quality images (or x-rays) of the human body, which are then used to diagnose patient injury or illness. In addition, the technologists are trained to perform a variety of radiological procedures. Students can prepare to apply to a Radiology Technology program by enrolling in and completing prerequisite courses at Peninsula College.

Students must plan accordingly and may request guidance in the counseling office as needed. You may call the counseling center at (360)417-6340 for information about enrolling in this program.

SCHOLARSHIP/EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM:
Based on a continuing identified need for local Radiology Technicians, scholarship opportunities may be announced at the beginning part of each calendar year. Application forms will be available on the web. Priority will be given to students who are on track to apply to a Radiology Program for the following academic year. Students selected for the scholarship will agree to return to the Olympic Peninsula and work for a local facility for two years. Even without the scholarship, students may continue their Radiology Technology education by applying to one of the Washington state programs listed above and transferring coursework completed at Peninsula College to fulfill program prerequisites.

POTENTIAL POSITIONS AND EARNINGS:
Radiology Technologist’s annual median wage is $40,510. Annual employment growth rate is 2.2 percent, and there are an estimated 125 annual position openings in Washington state.
