What Other Students Say About Distance Learning
Plan ahead and don't wait until the last minute.
My advice would be check in everyday and look around the site for anything new.
I would have done the thing that I would tell people to do- ask questions, do the assignment two days before they are due, read all the notes first, and talk to others in the class and the teacher.
The best thing is that it works around your schedule, just make sure you turn in the things before the due date.
Take it and be motivated to work your butt off.
Plan ahead. Be sure you know when and what assignments to do and complete by the deadline.
Be sure you have a set schedule as to when you are going to do the assignments.
I'd just tell them that it's a great opportunity and it's a lot better than sitting in a classroom. This way you can pretty much do the assignments when you have the time. You don't have to worry about missing the lectures because you always have access to them.
Keep up with the coursework and don't let yourself get behind. Stay self-disciplined and motivated. I would not have done anything differently.
Do not over load classes thinking an online course will be easy.
Students should always set certain days and times to focus on the Internet classes. As long as you are consistent with how much time and effort you put into the classes, it should be pretty easy.
Pay attention and ask questions.
Make sure you leave yourself enough time, and stay disciplined throughout or you’ll suffer.
Have patience, you'll get online eventually! Be aware that computers have glitches too. Leave extra time, just in case. Don't wait until the last minute to find out that the site is busy or down for rework.
Do not assume that because you are not in class, it will be easy. Make a commitment and study, study, study.
Make sure to read the lecture notes more than once to let them soak in. Do it! Its a lot of hard work but worth it! Very flexible!
This course requires more, not less work than a regular class. You must be self-motivated and be used to studying on your own. The advantage is that you can study and take your exams when you like. If studying a few hours here and a few hours there, and taking your exams at 10:00 p.m. when the kids go to sleep sounds like heaven to you, you've found your class.
I don't think I would've done anything differently. I think all classes, no matter what the subject, should be an Internet-based course. It makes it more convenient for the student as well as the teacher and doesn't send your stress levels sky rocketing.
DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!!! If you are someone who procrastinates and is not very self-motivated then an on-line course is not for you!!!
Plan ahead and try to keep on track. Do things before the deadline to prevent falling behind.
Anyone who is thinking about taking an internet-based course, don't think it's easy. All of the work is done on your own, you have to be disciplined and prepared to spend time on this course; it's not easy.
Make sure to allocate enough time for it.
Study more because it really is a regular course. Just because it is online does not mean it's easier.
I would advise anyone to take an Internet-based course. The only thing I would have done differently is printout all the notes and study them sooner.
I would advise them to plan a set time each day in which they can sit and study the information. Without a plan the studying may never get done.
I think I did a pretty good job, so I wouldn't change what I did. What I would tell someone else is that you have to be online every day and stay caught up. If you fall behind there is no safety net, so it takes a lot of discipline to get it done. If you don't have discipline, you'd better learn it really fast.
My advice would be - do not, under any circumstances, think that just because it is online that it will be easier. If anything, it is harder. In order to take an internet course, you have to be really self-disciplined and motivated, and the course work is just as hard, whether you are in a classroom or out.
I think I handled everything okay. My advice would be hang to up your free time for four weeks. Make sure you know your computer. DO NOT procrastinate.
Make sure you have more than just a general knowledge of computers.
