What is Distance Learning?
Distance Learning is flexible learning, using telecommunications technologies to expand access to college curricula and to provide more convenient learning options. Distance Learning at Peninsula College includes three different delivery technologies:
Interactive Television (ITV)
Interactive television uses videoconferencing technology to connect an instructor and students at two or more locations. ITV allows “real time” visual and audio contact among students and the instructor when students are located at distant sites.
Video
Video classes provide independent-learning opportunities, using commercially produced videos and textbooks for class content. Instructors are available by email, telephone, and in person by appointment.
The Web (WWW)
Learning via the Web is also called online learning. Peninsula College students have several options for learning online. Classes are available via
WashingtonONLINE as well as PC Online. PC Online students use
WebCT for their virtual classroom.
