Student Success Story

Jennifer Nemes is a single mother with four school-aged children. Two years ago, Jennifer Nemes saw an ad in the Help Wanted section of the Peninsula Daily News. She answered the ad and enrolled in the WorkFirst Program through Peninsula College. Now, two years later, she just received a 4.0 grade point average in her twelve credit college courses on campus. This grade included a very difficult biology course that Jennifer is thrilled to have mastered!

Jennifer’s long-term career goal is to return to the community college and work as an advisor with low-income adults. She will soon pursue her bachelor’s degree in human services. Jennifer says, “I just don’t think that low-income adults know how much education can improve their lives!” She shares enthusiastically, “The community college is place where I can make the most difference!"

Jennifer has been working for the P.C. Advising Office as an Office Assistant through the WorkFirst WorkStudy program for the past year. Jennifer was just offered an unsubsidized job with the Advising Office until her departure to Western Washington in June.

Stay tuned for the next chapter in Jennifer’s life---We know it will be successful, fast-moving and exciting!
