The WorkFirst Work-Study Program combines work and classroom learning experiences, including vocational, basic, or job skills training. Participant requirements are: - Current Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) recipient
- Enrollment in a qualifying training activity
- Approval for participation by their Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) case manager
WorkFirst Work-Study guidelines: - WorkFirst Work-Study can be awarded with other financial aid
- Whenever possible, students are placed in positions related to their training
- Students are eligible for up to 4 quarters of work-study
- College credit may be awarded for work-study job duties
- Employers can be either public or private
- The work-study fund pays 100% of an employee's wages
- Wages do not count against a recipient's cash award
