Clock Hours for Educators:

Peninsula College is authorized by Washington State to provide “clock hour” courses to help educators obtain education units required for teaching credentials. The courses are reviewed and approved by committee every quarter for subjects that might pertain to a variety of teaching positions. The clock hour courses are clearly marked in the quarterly bulletins and on our website.

Each 60 minutes counts as one clock hour. There is a minimum of three hours to qualify as an approved course. Credited classes at the 100 level or above may be used toward clock hours. One quarter hour of college credit is the equivalent of 10 clock hours, should students opt for that, and a transcript serves as documentation for state requirements.

Students need to tell the instructor that they are signing up for clock hours, and the instructor and student will keep track of actual hours attended. At the conclusion of the course, the student will contact the clock hour coordinator, and obtain the form needed to turn into the state.

If students have suggestions for clock hour courses, or would like a course reviewed for a clock hour designation, please contact us, and we will be happy to review course material.
