Starting Your Education Benfits

1.       APPLY TO PENINSULA COLLEGE

  • Online by selecting “Apply Now!”
  • On campus at Enrollment Services Office, Building D
  • Call for an application at 360-452-9277

2.       APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID

IMPORTANT:  Before you choose your benefit package, please review your options carefully.  Click on “WHAT Benefit is Best for Me” on the GI bill website before you make your decision.


3.       APPLY FOR YOUR GI BILL BENEFITS

4.       REQUEST YOUR TRANSCRIPTS       

  • Request all previous college and military official transcripts to be sent to:   Peninsula College, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., Port Angeles, WA 98362

5.       VISIT THE VETERANS SERVICES COORDINATOR

  • Make an appointment to meet with the Veterans Services Coordinator to set up a file and discuss paperwork needed by the VA. Veterans Services Coordinator is Trisha Plute, 360-417-6224, tplute@pencol.edu

6.       SCHEDULE PLACEMENT TEST AND ORIENTATION

  • Call Student Development Center at 360-417-6340
  • If you have completed college English and Math, you may be able to waive the placement test.

7        MEET WITH THE VETERANS ADVISOR.

  • Make an appointment to meet with the Veterans Advisor, by calling 360-417-6340.
  • With the help of your advisor, set up your schedule of classes.   

IMPORTANT: VA Educational assistance pays only for courses that apply toward graduation from the declared program.

8.      REGISTER FOR CLASSES

  • You may register by phone at 360-417-6340 or 360-417-6224, or in person at the Enrollment Services Office, Building D. If you have a student ID number and PIN number, you can use Online Registration.

IMPORTANT: Once you are registered, you MUST bring your schedule to the Veterans Services Office. Building D, room 130.

9.       PAYMENT OF TUITION AND FEES

  • It is ultimately your responsibility to ensure that tuition and fees are paid. 
  • You may pay yourself by the payment due date, and expect reimbursement from the VA.
  • The payment due date for tuition and fees will be extended for those receiving Veterans Benefits until you have received the first check of the quarter from the VA.  For financial aid recipients, other deferments may also apply.  Please discuss this thoroughly with the Veterans Services Coordinator to ensure continuation in your classes.

IMPORTANT: Please be advised that it is to your advantage to plan your finances wisely.  Be prepared to pay "out of pocket" for your first quarter. It is possible your VA educational benefits may not arrive until sometime after you have registered.
