Student Right-to-Know Completion and Graduation Rates
In accordance with federal regulations, Peninsula College is reporting completion and graduation rates for a select group of students who entered the college in Fall 2003. The study identifies the percentages who had completed their programs or transferred by August 31, 2009.
Peninsula College rates are based on a small cohort of 214 students who matched the following selection criteria:
- enrolled in credit classes full time
- entering any college for the first time, and
- seeking a degree or certificate or planned to transfer to a four-year college or university
Percentage of total Fall 2003 enrollment 4.29%
Study group results:
| Completion rate as of Aug. 31,2009 |
21.50 |
| Transfer rate as of Aug. 31, 2009 |
18.69% |
| Total completion and transfer rate as of Aug. 31, 2009 |
40.19% |
“Completion” includes those who completed an academic or professional technical degree or certificate. Many of these students may also have transferred but are not included in the transfer rate calculation.
“Transfer” students enrolled in another college or university before they completed a degree or certificate.
These rates do not represent the success rates for the other 95.71% of students who attended Peninsula College in Fall 2003. They don’t include any of the students who attended part time that fall, who enrolled full time but had previous college experience, or who took only a course or two to improve job or academic skills.
These rates don’t take into account students who started full time, but later enrolled part time because of work or family commitments. They don’t recognize that many community college students may take a quarter or more off from school because of other demands. They also don’t take into account the students who have completed programs or transferred since August 31, 2009.
Student Right-to-Know Information for Student Athletes
Federal Student Right to Know regulations require that Peninsula College make public, information concerning enrollments and completion/graduation/transfer rates of students receiving athletically-related financial aid. Information must be provided by gender, ethnicity, and sport, where possible. However, categories that contain five or fewer individuals may be either omitted or combined to protect the privacy of those individuals. Peninsula has chosen to combine those categories and report the results.
The completion/graduation/transfer rate study group, as specified by federal law, includes only students who were:
- enrolled in credit classes full time (registered for 12 or more credits Fall 2004)
- entering any college for the first time (no previous college experience anywhere), and
- seeking a degree or certificate or planning to attend Peninsula for at least one full year and then transfer to a four-year college or university.
“Completion” includes those who completed an academic or professional technical degree or certificate. Many of these students may also have transferred but are not included in the transfer rate calculation.
“Transfer” students enrolled in another college or university before they completed a degree or certificate.

Athletic enrollments by ethnicity are too small to report individually. Sports whose counts are too small have been combined for this report.
