Student Publications
Students can gain writing, photography and design experience, not to mention academic credits, while providing the college with its two student publications,
The Buccaneer and
Tidepools.
THE BUCCANEERThe Buccaneer is the award-winning, student-operated newspaper. It is published at least four times per quarter and covers campus life and matters of interest to Peninsula College students. The writing and editorial staff of the paper are selected from among students working on the paper, all of whom are eligible to apply for
Webster Scholarships, financial aid grants open to students taking journalism or
media communications.
TIDEPOOLSTidepools, an annual publication of fiction and non-fiction prose, poetry, artwork, and photography, offers students a chance to gain experience and credit producing a college literary magazine. Interested students may register for the
English classes "Literary Magazine Production I-VI" (ENGL 181-183, 281-283 and also Media 181-183). Students interested in contributing to
Tidepools may
submit materials in the fall of each year through the
Tidepools art and literature contest that is open to all residents of Clallam and Jefferson counties.
Tidepools is available for purchase at The Bookaneer, at local book stores, and for checkout at the Library/Media Center. Call Janet Lucas, magazine advisor, 417-6361, for further information.
