Visual literacy and multimedia communication technology are essential to the flow of information in a globalized society. The Multimedia Communications program provides students with the knowledge, skills, and technical proficiency to communicate and present information in print, electronic, and interactive formats.

Mission Goals

The mission of the Multimedia Communications program is to:

  • Provide courses that support occupational readiness, student success, and personal growth.
  • Encourage students to explore the role interactive and multimedia technologies have on society and how they contribute to art, business, globalization, and sustainability.
  • Provide up to date curriculum that adapts to the rapidly changing field of multimedia and web design.
  • Support the strategic goals and priorities of Peninsula College.

Degrees

The Multimedia Communications program at Peninsula College offers an AAS degree in Multimedia Communications that can be earned entirely online or oncampus. We also offer two AAS-T degree options. The Graphics degree is for students who enjoy photography, illustration and the artistic side of multimedia, and the Web Design and E-Commerce Technologies degree is for students who want to develop dynamic and interactive web sites.

Multimedia Communications Certificates of Completion are awarded to students who complete a series of fifteen credits in 3 specialized areas. These short term certificates are great for students who want to update their software and multimedia skills for personal and professional development. The certificates are also popular with general education students who choose to complete the allowable 15 Professional Technical credits in one specialized area and add a Multimedia Communications Short Term certificate while earning an Associate of Arts degree.
