PORT ANGELES, Washington (6/10/2009 2:16:00 PM)
Peninsula College will hold dedication ceremonies for the new Edward L. Tisch Memorial Arboretum at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 12. Community residents are invited to attend the dedication ceremonies and arboretum open house.
Tisch, who taught at Peninsula College for more than 40 years, began the first college arboretum shortly after he arrived at the college in 1966. A dedicated teacher, scholar and arborist, Tisch taught biology and botany. He passed away on September 6, 2007.
Speakers at the dedication ceremonies will include Peninsula College President Dr. Thomas Keegan; Tisch's son, Ehrin Tisch; local poet and conservationist Tim McNulty; and retired Olympic National Park botanist Ed Schreiner.
The arboretum is located on the east side of the Port Angeles campus. Visitors may park in the college's north parking lot and follow the sidewalks and signs to the arboretum.
