Concentration

Concentration means much more than just attending class. To evaluate your concentration abilities, pay attention by focusing on what you are doing and how you are feeling at the moment.

Factors that cause you to lose concentration:

Internal
o Hunger
o Fatigue
o Worry
o Negative Feelings & Emotions

External
o Noise
o Lighting
o Temperature
o Interruptions

Here's what you can do to improve your learning:
• Become aware of your learning styles.
• Use self-regulation strategies to reduce or eliminate distractions.
• Enhance your ability to concentrate to the greatest extent possible.
• Change your study environment and habits.
• Choose when and where you study.
• Break long assignments into smaller, more manageable parts.
• Turn the cell phone off.
• Adjust your work hours.
• Experiment and develop a study routine that works for you.
