Learning Styles

When you know your learning styles you can...

  • Maximize your strengths.
  • Compensate for your weaknesses.
  • Increase your learning effectiveness.
  • Incorporate your brain's natural learning preferences into your approaches to studying and learning.

The VARK questionnaire aims to find out something about your preferences for the way you work with information. The VARK questionnaire groups these areas in Visual, Aural, Read/Write, and Kinesthetic. Knowing which learning type you prefer will help you to adapt your learning. You can take the online questionnaire or print it out (pdf) and score yourself.

Learning styles, or preferences, are not the same as learning disabilities, dyslexia, or other neurological disorders. If have any concerns about your learning abilities, or have further questions, contact a counselor.
