PC Scholarships

 

Environmental Science Scholarship:

Award Amount: $ 9000.00

Incremental awards: $ 2,000 for Sophomore year, $3,000 for junior year, $ 4, 000 for senior year.

Eligibility:

  • Student must enroll full time at Peninsula College or a four year degree program delivered at Peninsula College.
  • Student must have completed first year biology and/or chemistry requirements for science majors.
  • Student must demonstrate through academic performances (grades) and/or test scores active involvement in the learning process and/or public outreach in the area of science.
  • Student must demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in Environmental Science that will help improve the environment.
  • Student must demonstrate excellence in Environmental Science with the goal to transfer to a four year degree program delivered at Peninsula College.
  • Student must maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher to continue eligibility for scholarship funding.
  • Student must be a U.S.  Citizen.

Ed Tisch Scholarship:

Award Amount: $ 1,000.00

Eligibility:

  • Student must enroll full time at Peninsula College
  • Student must demonstrate through academic performance and/or test scores active involvement in the learning process
  • Student must demonstrate a strong interest in the sciences.
  • Student must demonstrate a strong intention to enroll in a baccalaureate-level program as a Science major following completion of studies at Peninsula College

Clallam Promise Scholarship:

Award Amount: up to $900 for tuition and up to $200 for books, per quarter

Eligibility:

  • Must be a 2008 high school graduate of a comprehensive or alternative high school in the Cape Flattery, Crescent, Port Angeles, Quillayute Valley, or Sequim School Districts.
  • Must have attended a high school listed above for the last two years.
  • Must demonstrate financial need by meeting the following criteria:
    • Student qualifies for the school district's free/reduced lunch program
    • Student has completed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and is eligible for federal and/or state financial aid as determined by the Financial Aid Office.

Soroptimist Continuing Education Scholarship:

Award Amount: $1,000 (3)

Eligibility:

Applicants must be female graduates of Sequim High School or have a legal address within the Sequim School District. They also need to have completed one year of college or equivalent and plan to be enrolled in school for the fall of 2008.

TwinStar Credit Union Scholarships:

Award Amount: $1,000

Eligibility:

  • The applicant must be a prime member of TwinStar Credit Union, in good standing.
  • The applicant must include proof of enrollment in an institution of higher learning.

NW Next Young Leaders Scholarship:

Award Amount: $2,000 (2)

Eligibility:

  • A minimum 3.0 GPA(higher GPAs will receive higher point score)
  • Enrolled and entering their junior or senior year in an accredited four year college in Washington State's Puget Sound Region
  • Demonstrated community service and/or civic involvement
  • The ability to write a clear vision for their future including specific goals
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

Education Matters $5k Scholarship:

One $5,000 scholarship will be awarded to the student who best responds (in 250 words or less) to the following online topic: "What would you say to someone who thinks education doesn't matter, or that college is a waste of time and money?" To be eligible to apply, students must be residents of the United States, be 13 years of age or older, and must have completed a scholarship search profile online at http://www.scholarshipexperts.com/.

The National College Bound Scholarship:

This four-year scholarship cover the cost of college tuition, fees and books for low-income students who sign a pledge in the 7th or 8th grade promising to graduate from high school and to demonstrate good citizenship.

Eligibility:

  • Be in 7th or 8th grade
  • Submit a COLLEGE BOUND SCHOLARSHIP application/pledge
  • GRADUATE from a Washington high school (or home schoo
  • Maintain a cumulative high school GPA of at least a 2.0
  • Be a good citizen and stay CRIME FREE
  • Apply for ADMISSION to an eligible college in Washington
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Meet the FAMILY INCOME requirements at the time of graduation
  • Be a RESIDENT of WASHINGTON

Martin Honors Scholarship:

Martin Honor Scholars may receive $6,000 per year in support for up to three years at UW. Awarded on a competitive basis, the Martin Honors Scholarship recognizes outstanding accomplishments in academics and leadership, a strong record of community involvement, and a clear sense of purpose. Candidates need not have formally applied to UW to submit applications for the Martin Honors Scholarship. Actual award, however, will depend on admission to UW.

  • Resident alien status with intent to become a US citizen.

Martin Achievement Scholarship:

Martin Achievement Scholars may receive $5,000 in support for their second year in community college and up to $6,000 per year for three years at UW. Awarded on a competitive basis, the Martin Achievement Scholarship recognizes promise and accomplishment in academics, leadership, or contributions to the community.

The Educational Opportunity Grant:

Award Amount: Up to $5,000

Eligibility:

  • Washington state resident
  • Place bound circumstances. The program defines place bound circumstances as having personal barriers, such as family or employment commitments, health concerns, financial inability, or other similar factors, that make it difficult for you to continue your education at an eligible college. In general, placebound students either have to relocate or are unable to relocate to attend college because of personal barriers.
  • Junior class standing. Have at least junior class standing (as determined by the college you plan to attend) by the end of your first term of enrollment by completing a transferable associate's degree for an equivalent amount of transfer credits. The college you plan to attend must receive your official, final academic transcripts to determine your class standing.
  • Financial need, as determined to be the financial aid office at the college you plan to attend.
  • You must be a junior or senior in 2008-2009 by either transferring or returning to an eligible college after an absence of one or more years, you are ineligible to receive an EOG at the college you are currently attending.

Amount: $500

Eligibility:

Our belief is that achieving a high grade point average should not be the only criteria for determining who deserves to be helped. For that reason we are offering a scholarship that will be awarded on the basis of character, as determined by evaluating the essays that are submitted.

Chapter HM-P.E.O. Memorial Fund Scholarship:

Amount: $300 per quarter, renewable

Eligibility:

  • Full-time enrollment;
  • Single mother with dependent children or older single woman;
  • Financial need will be considered.

The Boren Scholarship for Undergraduate Students:

Amount: Maximum award is $8,000 for a summer, $10,000 for a semester, $20,000 for a full academic year

Eligibility:

All Boren Scholarship applicants must be U.S. citizens, enrolled as undergraduates in U.S. institutions and planning to study les commonly taught languages abroad. Scholars must complete their NSEP-funded programs before graduation.

The Boren Scholarship for Undergraduate Students:

Amount: The maximum award is $30,000; $12,000 per semester for up to two semesters is available for overseas study, the maximum award for domestic only study is $12,000

Eligibility:

All Boren Fellowship applicants must be U.S. citizens, enrolled or who are applying for enrollment as graduate students in U.S. Institutions and planning to study less commonly taught languages and world regions.

Loan Repayments and Scholarships for Health Care Professionals and Students in Washington State:

The Scholarship program is for students who have completed their prerequisites and are enrolled or accepted into a health program that will lead to licensure in Washington State as a primary care health care provider. The funds are not need-based, nor is the student required to be attending full-time. The following professions are included: Medical Doctor (MD, OD); Physician Assistant; Nurse Practitioner; Nurse (LPN, RN, Nurse Faculty); Dentist; Registered Dental Hygienist; Pharmacist; or Midwife.

The loan repayment program helps pay towards education debt incurred while training to become a primary care health care provider. To be eligible they must become licensed and practice at an eligible site in Washington State for a minimum of three years.

Kids Chance of Washington Scholarships:

Serious work-related accidents can have a devastating impact on families, especially children. The financial impact can be life shattering. Kids Chance of Washington is non-profit charitable organization whose mission is to provide educational scholarships to help these families in need. Through the collaborative efforts of business and labor organizations, need-based scholarships are provided to the children and spouses of Washington State worker injured on the job.
