C-D 002 NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY

The Olympic Peninsula is one of the most photogenic and photographed regions of North America. Using the region as our natural laboratory, learn photography skills centered on image composition, effective use of equipment in a variety of conditions, and special techniques for photographing plants and animals. Through photographic studies and field trips students will have opportunities to learn the intricacies of photographing wildlife and scenery, while at the same time gaining and appreciation for nature as the ideal photo topic. Whether you are new to the world of digital photography or a long-time user of a digital camera, this class will help with tips and instruction to improve your skills. Some of the topics covered are resolution, digital exposure, white balance, camera functions; image capture, processing, printing, archiving, and storage. Bring your own camera and camera manual if possible. Washington State Clock hours offered.

C-D 025 ADOBE LIGHTROOM

Drowning in pictures? This one-day class introduces photographers to the basic and intermediate functions of Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and is designed for any photographer who needs to manage, organize, and find their files in order to process them through an organized and structured digital workflow. Learn to input images, add essential metadata, expose adjustments, tonal and color corrections, black and white conversion, and final output to screen or print. No knowledge of Adobe Photoshop is required.

Get a hands-on tour of your digital camera's features and define technical terms as you go. The second session will include transferring photographs to a computer, resizing, cropping, and printing. Students should bring a digital camera and camera-user guide to both sessions.

Celebrate your ancestors in a personalized hard cover photo book. Create a baby book, family cookbook, wedding album, or showcase a special occasion. Whether you are a family historian, a budding professional photographer, or have precious family photographs you want to show off, this course will teach you how to scan, edit, and display your photographs in a professionally printed photo book. Student responsible for their own printing fees. Fees start at $39 - not included in tuition.Washington State clock hours offered.

This class builds on image techniques learned in Photoshop Elements I and takes them beyond the basics. Learn gradients, montages, painting black and white, brush options, art techniques, and more. Prerequisite: Photoshop Elements I or Photoshop.

Websites are a perfect place to store your family photos and history or showcase your hobby. Learn to design and build your own website, explore usability, optimizing images for the web, creating links, and audience connectivity. Participate in the Web 2.0 with collaborative content management systems to build sites by harnessing collective intelligence and online applications. Students need basic computer skills to be successful. Washington State clock hours offered.

Preserve your history through pictures. Develop skills using Adobe Photoshop Elements computer software to edit digital images and prepare photos for the Internet (web or e-mail). We'll supply the photos and teach you the techniques to work with your own pictures. Students should have basic computer skills.
