Individualized observation and participation assignments with children and staff in early childhood centers. Negative TB test required. Individuals who have been residents of Washington State for less than three years may be required to pay a fee for a background check. Three hours of lab assignments per week; seminar scheduled for one or two hours per week to discuss lab assignments. Six credits total. STARS approved.

Nutrition, exercise, and health in child growth and development. Topics include planning and serving meals based on USDA nutrition requirements, safe food practices, appropriate nutrition education concepts and activities, health assessments, infection control, and safety management. Meets basic training requirements for childcare providers in centers and homes as mandated by the Washington State Legislature and outlined by the Washington State Training and Registry System (STARS). Participation with children and staff in an approved early childhood center. Practice applying guidance procedures, implementing curriculum, and working cooperatively with staff.
