MASST 118 ANAT, PHYS, PATH III

Continued overview of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology, addressing both health and disease in the circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary, and reproductive systems; determination of indications and contraindications for massage therapy. Prerequisite: MASST 117.

MASST 168 BUSINESS PRACTICES

Develop a budget, client policy and procedure statement, and promotional materials (brochure and business card) as part of a business plan to establish massage therapy practice. Explore short- and long-term goals and objectives for a business. Includes continued exploration of client ledgers and basic bookkeeping procedures.

MASST 242 ADV BODYWK THRY/TECHQ II

Continued exploration of theory and technique of injury assessment and treatment of common musculoskeletal conditions, including an examination of the pathology of these conditions. Treatment styles include muscle-energy and soft-tissue release therapies, as well as an introduction to onsite chair massage, manual lymph drainage, cranial-sacral therapy, and bodymind acupressure. Prerequisite: MASST 241.

MASST 250 ADV STUDENT CLINIC I

In this advanced clinic, students offer one-hour treatment massage sessions to the public, under instructior supervision. Students refine their skills with client interview, health-care assessment and treatment, charting, and supervisory consultation. The focus is on evaluating and treating common musculoskeletal conditions in the context of partial- and full-body massage treatments. Prerequisite: MASST 190.

MASST 259 ADV HYDROTHERAPY II

Students investigate the possibilities of various spa treatments, including body scrubs, salt glow massage, and use of jacuzzi and sauna in a therapeutic setting.
